Cats Set School Record in Sweep of Huskies

TUCSON---No. 18 Arizona posted its fifth-best hitting percentage in school history en route to a 15-8, 15-1, 15-8 sweep of Washington here Thursday night.

With the win, the Cats improved to 10-4, 4-2 in Pac-10 play. The Huskies fell to 6-9 and 2-5.

Arizona hit .427 for the match, its second-best mark ever in a Pac-10 contest. In game 2, when the Cats jumped to an 11-0 lead, UA hit .842 (16-0-19), the best single-game hitting percentage in school history. The previous best was a .700 figure reached in game one of a contest with Texas Tech in Albuquerque, N.M., Nov. 27, 1993.

Junior middle blocker Marisa DaLee hit .667 (13-1-18) and freshman outside hitter Lisa Rutledge hit .519 (15-1-27) to pace the Cats. Freshman outside hitter Shannon Torregrosa also hit .778 with seven kills.

Arizona returns to action Friday evening in the McKale Center at 7:30 p.m. when the Cats take on Washington State.
