Greg Byrne's Wildcat Wednesday
Adia Barnes
Position: Women's Basketball 1995-1998
Many believe that the signing of Adia Barnes to play at The University of Arizona was the start of great things for the women's basketball team. Adia was the first University of Arizona women's basketball player to be inducted into the UA Sports Hall of Fame since the creation of Title IX. She was also the first U of A women's player to be drafted into the professional leagues - WNBA - and the first women's basketball player to be named a first team All-America. In addition, Adia was the first UA player to lead the Pac-10 in scoring and became the first Lady Wildcat to be named Pac-10 Player of the Year and to ever score more than 600 points in one season.

Adia, at the time of her induction, held numerous career records including points scored (2,237), rebounds (921) and field goals (881)

Adia was drafted in the fourth round of the 1998 WNBA draft by the Sacramento Monarchs. She was the 32nd pick overall.
