2012 Football Game Day FAQ’s – Construction, Traffic and Parking

Due to the construction of the Lowell-Stevens Football Facility and modern street car rail system in and around campus, please allow yourself extra time to arrive at your parking location on game days.  Planning your route carefully and arriving at the stadium gates at least 30 minutes prior to kick-off is encouraged.

To assist with your planning we have set up this FAQ page. The following information is provided as an ongoing update related to parking, pedestrian traffic, and other important updates for the 2012 season.

This information can and will change, so please check back regularly for the latest updates.

If there are questions we have not answered please email and we will provide you with an answer.

How will Lowell-Stevens Football Facility construction affect parking on game day?

Parking will not be affected by the construction, but access to various parking areas will be affected.  Cherry Avenue Parking Garage will load as normal – from Campbell to Enke Dr. and 6th Street north to National Championship Drive.  The south end of Arizona Stadium will operate as normal with visiting team buses and off-site parking drop-off zones.   Fans approaching Arizona Stadium from the south need to allow for more time at Kino and 22nd Street as a major intersection renovation is ongoing for the next 12 months.

Guests with parking in more remote north and west campus lots will have access to a limited number of pre-game golf cart shuttles.  Shuttles operated by campus Parking and Transportation Services will be making continuous loops PRE-GAME only for pedestrians needing mobility assistance.  Carts will operate free of charge beginning 4-hours prior to kick-off and will drop off north and west of the stadium respectively.  Please note, due to pedestrian and vehicular congestion immediately around the stadium post-game, courtesy shuttles will ONLY operate PRE-GAME.

How will Lowell-Stevens Football Facility construction affect ingress and egress of stadium routes?

Vehicle Routes:  There is no vehicle access on Vine Avenue to the west stadium lots.  All west stadium access is from 6th Street onto Stadium Way, immediately east of Highland Ave.

Pedestrian Routes:  Fans with west stadium seating can walk south on Vine to gates 12-18 on the west side.  Gate 18 at the northwest corner of Arizona Stadium will be extremely busy.  Gate 16 is an alternate option for fans.  Scholarship Suite entrances and Loge/Media entrances for the skybox elevators will be the same as last season.  Pedestrian access on Vine will loop around the construction of the new stadium towers so please arrive early and expect delays.

Which gates will be closed? What are the alternate pedestrian routes and traffic flow?

Affected Gates:  The large drive entry gate at Enke Drive and Cherry, formerly known as Gate B will be closed the entire season.  Gate 2 (northeast) and Gate 7 (southeast) also remain closed.  Fans are encouraged to use Gates 1 and 8 for the season.   Fans who park in the Cherry Garage or arrive at the stadium from tailgating grounds with west stadium tickets must proceed west on 4th Street to Vine Ave north of the Lowell-Stevens Football Facility for stadium access.

Alternate pedestrian routes and traffic flow:  Guests with disabled seating on the east side will continue to use the east stadium elevator OR Gates 1 and 8 for access.  Assistance will be provided at the ramps.

What about wheelchair seating areas?

How do I access wheelchair seating in the new south end zone sections 11-13? We recommend using Gate 9 at the south end of the stadium. You may also enter through Gate 10, however, the accessibly ramp to the seating section is located at gate 9.

How do I access wheelchair seating in the east stadium sections 2-6?  Access to these wheelchair seating areas is available through Gate 1 or Gate 8 (ramp access from ground level to 100 level), or the east stadium elevator.

What’s the best route to take from the Cherry Garage, and north and east lots to gate 9?  Guests with disabled parking in Cherry Garage or north and east lots should proceed south on National Championship Drive to 6th street and turn west to Gate 9.

Relocation of Football Game Day Ticket office

The public game day Box Office will be relocated to the McKale Center Ticket Office and will be open 5 hours prior to kick-off and close at the end of halftime.

Wildcat Walk Update

The team will be dropped-off in the same location as previous years, at Cherry and University.  The expected walking route will go south on Cherry Ave and conclude at 4th Street.   Please join the route on both sides of Cherry Ave to greet the team two hours prior to kick-off.  (Example: 7:30 pm kick-off will mean 5:30 pm Wildcat Walk)
