15th Year as a Coach
First Year at Arizona

Scott Pelluer, 41, a four-year starting linebacker at Washington State from 1977-80, brings professional playing experience, 14 years of coaching experience and Pac-10 bloodlines to the Arizona staff.

Most recently, Pelluer was defensive coordinator during the 2000 season at Skyline High School, a 13-0 state championship team in the Seattle area, and also served as color analyst for WSU football radio broadcasts.

Pelluer previously served on Jim Lambright's staff at Washington from 1996 to 1998 as outside linebackers coach. At UW, he coached linebacker Jerry Jensen, a 1998 fifth-round selection by the Carolina Panthers, to first team All-Pac-10 honors. After Lambright and the staff were released following the 1998 season, Pelluer went into the world, helping to build into the largest network of athletic web sites in the world.

Prior to his return to the Pacific Northwest, Pelluer spent three seasons at Northern Arizona University as defensive coordinator and linebackers coach from 1993 to 1995. His 1995 unit led the Big Sky Conference in every defensive category and gave up the fewest points per game - 14.8 - in the league since 1978.

He began his coaching career as the linebackers coach and recruiting coordinator at Boise State from 1987-92. A fourth-round draft pick by the Dallas Cowboys, Pelluer played six years professionally for the New Orleans Saints.

A four-year starter at linebacker and a 1981 graduate of Washington State, he finished his career with 240 total tackles, including 180 solo stops. He garnered honorable mention All-Pac-10 honors his senior year and was selected to play in the East-West Shrine Game in Palo Alto, Calif.

His brother, Steve, was Washington's starting quarterback from 1981-83 and played nine years in the NFL. His younger brother, Arnie, was a Stanford linebacker from 1984-87.

Pelluer donates a week each year during July to the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, helping it run a high school football camp in Flagstaff, Ariz. This will be his sixth year working with the camp.

Pelluer and his wife, Kimberly, are the parents of three sons Tyler, Cooper and Peyton, and one daughter, Jordan.
