After day one of the NCAA West Regional Championships, the University of Arizona women's golf team is in a two-way tie for 10th place
In round one, No. 31 sophomore Manon Gidali led the Wildcats in a seven-way tie for 18th place.
Held at Valencia Country Club in Valencia, Calif., competition will take place Mon.-Wed., April 22-24.
Paired with No. 14 Arizona State and No. 15 Stanford for the final round of play, No. 7 Arizona finished tied for third with the Cardinal.
Heading into round three, No. 7 Arizona and No. 14 Arizona State share fifth place with scores of 572 (-4).
2011-12 (Freshman): Competed in six events and 17 rounds her freshman year, earning two top-10 finishes ... Finished tied for eighth at the Betsy Rawls Invitational by shooting a 219 (+3) for the tournament, and posting her lowest round in the second round with a 68 ... Shot a 230 (+14) at the Wildcat Invitational where she competed as an individual, finishing in 33rd place ... Shot a 223 (+7) at the UNLV Invitational, earning a tie for eighth place overall at the tournament.
High School: Picked up a 14th-place finish at the 2011 Spanish National Championship in May, 2011 with rounds of 74, 78, 77 and 74 ... At the 2010 Banesto Tour Sant Cugat, she shot career-low rounds of 63 and 67, finishing tied for first after losing the playoff ... In 2011, she collected wins at the Barcelona Open Championship (75-76-71) and at the Grand Prix Des Landes - Hossegor (67-69-73-72) ... In the last two seasons, she has collected 10 top-10 finishes ... Won a bronze medal with the Spanish team at the 2011 European Girls Team Championship and was a member of the champion Catalan team at the Spanish Junior Interegional in 2008, 2009 and 2010 ... Named Team MVP.
