In 1991, the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics at The University of Arizona established the Silver Anniversary C.A.T.S. Award. This award is given to a former Arizona Letterwinner who has competed at least 25 years ago. The Silver Anniversary C.A.T.S. Award is held in the highest esteem within the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics.
The Silver Anniversary C.A.T.S. Award recognizes Letterwinners who have made a significant impact in their local community and within their chosen profession. The mission of the Commitment to Athlete's Total Success (CATS) program is the development of a student-athlete as a whole person (academically, athletically and personally), encouraging these student-athletes to lead a healthy and positive lifestyle. To continue to maintain the ideals of the C.A.T.S. program, we are honoring former Letterwinners who have taken those ideals and applied them to their life during the past 25 or more years, impacting their community, profession and this University.
When selecting an individual for nomination, please consider their professional achievement, community service, leadership qualities and loyalty to The University of Arizona. There are many outstanding individuals throughout the community that are deserving of this award. Please feel free to nominate more than one individual.
The Silver Anniversary C.A.T.S. Award recipient is recognized at the annual C.A.T.S. Senior Awards Banquet held each year to honor student-athletes who are finishing their athletic eligibility.
Attached is an application form to nominate an individual for the Silver Anniversary C.A.T.S. Award. A selection committee will choose from the nominations submitted. Strict criteria will outline the selection process.
