2013 Louisville Slugger All-American Teams

TUCSON, Ariz. - University of Arizona baseball player Brandon Dixon was named a third-team Louisville Slugger All-American announced Thursday by Collegiate Baseball.

A native of Murrieta, Calif., Dixon started all 55 games at third base for the Wildcats in 2013. In his first season as full-time starter, Dixon won the Pac-12 batting title with a .369 average in addition to leading the conference with 30 stolen bases.

The 6-foot-1, 213-pound junior ranked among the league leaders in numerous offensive categories. Dixon checked in second in slugging percentage (.561), runs batted in (51) and runs scored (57). Additionally, he ranked third in on-base percentage (.443) and triples (five). He also led the team with six home runs.

Named to the Pac-12 All-Conference team on Wednesday, Dixon was one of the league's most improved players. His batting average jumped from .245 as a sophomore to its team and conference-leading .369 clip this year.

The final at-bat of Dixon's sophomore season set up his breakout junior campaign. Locked in a 1-1 tie in the ninth inning with South Carolina in the national championship game last June 26, Dixon roped what proved to be the game-winning RBI double. The Wildcats went on to win 4-1 to capture the school's fourth national championship.

Arizona finished its season last Sunday with a 34-21 overall record, including 15-15 in the Pac-12 Conference. The Wildcats were not selected to the NCAA Division I Baseball Championship, which begins this weekend.
