TUCSON - The University of Arizona Wildcat No. 22 men's and No. 6 women's track and field teams were each reprensted on the 2013 CoSIDA Academic All-District teams for cross country and track and field. For the third-straight year, seniors Brigetta Barrett and Edgar Rivera-Morales earned All-District accolades.
Barrett graduated with honors from the University of Arizona this past semester with a degree in theatre arts. She boasted a GPA of 3.53. On the year, she has won the NCAA Indoor Championship in the high jump and set the outdoor collegiate record with a mark of 6-6.25 (1.99m). That is the top collegiate mark in the country this year and No. 2 in the world.
Rivera-Morales graduated with a degree in industrial engineering and had a 3.58 GPA. Rivera-Morales has had a very successful 2013 campaign. He won the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) Championship in the high jump during the indoor season. He was also named 2013 NCAA Indoor All-American in the event. Outdoors, Rivera-Morales claimed his first conference title, winning the 2013 Pac-12 Championship in the high jump. His season-best clearance of 7-5.75 (2.28m) also ties a personal best and is the No.3 mark in the country this year.
The pair of high jumpers will compete with other members of the track and field program at the NCAA Outdoor Championships on June 5-8 in Eugene, Ore.
