TUCSON - The University of Arizona Wildcat men's and women's track and field teams both found themselves in the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association (USTFCCCA) national poll. The last poll before the finals of the NCAA Outdoor Championships ranks the men at No. 22 in the country and the women at No. 6. The poll was release on Tuesday.
The UA women are joined by six other Pac-12 schools in the national poll. Oregon sits at No .5. Arizona State is No. 9. Stanford is No. 11. UCLA holds the No. 14 spot. USC sits at No. 19 and Washington is No. 20.
The UA women have 12 accepted entries heading into the finals of the NCAA Championships. The 4x100-meter relay team and 4x400-meter relay team will both compete. Senior Georganne Moline in the 400-meter hurdles. Senior Jen Bergman and freshman Nicci Corbin will run in the 5,000-meter race. Bergman will also compete in the 10K. Senior Brigetta Barrett will look to win her third-straight title in the high jump. Junior Julie Labonté and senior Alyssa Hasslen are entered in the shot put. That duo plus sophomore Baillie Gibson are also entered in the discus competition. The women's team's 12 entries are tied for fifth-most in the competition.
The men's squad is accompanied by three Pac-12 schools in the national poll. Oregon is third, USC is seventh and UCLA is 19th.
