 Austin, Texas -  The University of Arizona Wildcat No. 22 men's and No. 6 women's track and field teams are set to compete in the NCAA Championships West Preliminary Round in Austin, Texas. The meet will take place from Thursday, May 23, to Saturday, May 25 at Mike Myers Stadium. Thursday's field events begin at noon CDT while the track events are set to start at 4:30 p.m. Friday's competition begins at noon with the field events and the running events start at 5 p.m. The field events on Saturday also start at noon and the running starts at 6 p.m. The women's squad has 26 total entries, 24 individual entries and two relays, which is the tied for third-most entries among all the women's teams in the meet. The men's squad has eight individual entries and two relays.

Arizona will compete against Kansas (M: 21, W: 1), Texas A&M (M: 2, W: 2), Oregon (M: 3, W: 3), Arkansas (M: 4, W: 8) and many other programs in the west.

In the USTFCCCA week eight national poll, Arizona's men climbed back into the rankings at the No. 22 spot. The women climbed a spot to No. 6. The Pac-12 has five additional men's teams in the national poll. Oregon stayed at No. 3, USC remained at No. 6, UCLA remained No. 15, California stayed at No. 18 and Colorado is No. 24. For the women, six other Pac-12 schools in the national poll accompany Arizona. Oregon sits at No. 3. Arizona State jumped a spot to No. 9. Stanford climbed a spot to No. 14. UCLA fell one spot to No. 13. Washington climbed two spots to No. 19. USC slid two spots to No. 21.

For the women's side on Thursday, senior Taylor Freeman and sophomore Baillie Gibson will begin the day for Arizona with the hammer throw at 2 p.m. They are the only women competing in field events on the day.

On the track, senior Georganne Moline will run in the preliminary round of the 400-meter hurdles at 4:30 p.m. Freshman Kate Penney will run in the preliminary round of the 1,500 meters at 5:30 p.m. Junior Germe Poston is set to run the 100-meter dash prelims at 6:30 p.m. At 7:20 p.m., junior Shapri Romero will run the in the preliminary round of the 400 meters. Senior Jen Bergman and sophomore Stephanie Bulder are set to run the 10K at 9 p.m.

On Friday for the women's field events, Arizona will have Freeman, Gibson, senior Alyssa Hasslen and junior Julie Labonté in the discus at noon. Senior Brigetta Barrett and sophomore Shakayla McEaddy will high jump at 6 p.m.

On the track, freshman Traci-Lynn Hicks will run the preliminary round of the 100-meter hurdles at 5 p.m. Poston will run the prelims for the 200 meters at 8 p.m. Sophomore Clea Formaz will run the 3,000-meter steeplechase at 8:50 p.m.

Saturday's field events start with senior Asia Easley in the javelin at 5 p.m. Gibson, Hasslen, Labonté and junior Omotayo Talabi compete in the shot put at 6 p.m.

The women's 4x100-meter relay team will consist of Hicks, Romero, junior Tamara Pridgett and Poston. In the women's 4x400-meter relay, UA will run Romero, Pridgett, junior Shale' Garland and Moline.

On Thursday, senior Edgar Rivera-Morales will high jump at 6 p.m. On the track, senior Clifton Leake will run the preliminary round of the 400-meter hurdles at 5 p.m. Freshman Bernard Dickerson-Quinn's preliminary race for the 400 meters will take place at 7:45 p.m. Junior Lawi Lalang will run the second 10K of his career at 9:40 p.m.

On Friday, senior Tyler Johnson will throw the hammer at 2 p.m. and sophomore Kenji Bierig will compete in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at 9:30 p.m.

On Saturday, the men's 4x100-meter relay of sophomore Thomas Moronta, Dickerson-Quinn, sophomore Mohammad Alhasan and junior Sean Delfani will run at 6:15 p.m. At 8:45 p.m., sophomore Sam Macaluso will run the 5K. The quartet of Delfani, Leake, senior James Eichberger, Dickerson-Quinn (freshman Siraaj Ghori is an alternate) will run at 9:45 p.m.

Also on Saturday, Barrett will head to New York, N.Y. to compete in the Diamond League's adidas Grand Prix. The high jump competition will take place at 1:15 p.m. EDT.
