TUCSON, Ariz. – University of Arizona women’s soccer is off to the best start the program has seen since 2008 when the Wildcats also won their first two matches.
On Fri., Aug. 30, the Wildcats open up their home slate with a non-conference match against UC Riverside at Murphey Field at Mulcahy Stadium. Match time is set for 4:30 p.m. Admission is free to all fans.
Season tickets for the 2013 campaign are still available with at a rate of $50, including admission for all nine home games. Discounts on season tickets are available for any Arizona faculty/staff, active military, seniors (55+) and youth. Groups with 15 or more can purchase group tickets for $4 per ticket. The Wildcats opened the 2013 season on the road and collected wins at Florida International on Aug. 23 and at FAU on Aug. 25. In Friday’s match against FIU, sophomore Kaitlyn Lopez scored her first career goal in the first five minutes of the game to put the Wildcats up 1-0. Senior Jazmin Ponce and junior Alexandra Doller also scored goals in the victory. Playing at FAU on Sunday, the Wildcats were tied 0-0 with 11 minutes to go in the match when Ponce scored the game-winning goal. Junior goalkeeper Gabby Kaufman recorded two saves en route to a shutout against the Owls.
