Below are Head Coach Tony Amato and junior Julia Glanz’s comments following practice:
Head Coach Tony Amato:
What are the overall emotions of the team after your success this past weekend?
“The energy is very positive because we are growing every weekend. We have played better competition as the season goes on and we just went through three stretches of not playing at home playing against three teams that are consistently in the NCAA tournament. As a result of playing those levels of teams, we’ve had positive outcomes in the sense that they didn’t beat us and we saw we can do against that level of competition. There are things we can get better at but overall the team feels good because we’ve made progress.”
Is there anything specific you will be working on in practice this week with the team?
“Every step of the way and every week we’re trying to add something in to it. There’s no question that we will be looking to add in something to this weekend to get better from last weekend. We will get focused on things both offensively and defensively to make sure we are connected from our backs to our forwards. We will hopefully see that improve for this weekend.”
Junior Julia Glanz:
What are the emotions of the team after a successful start?
“We’re pumped up and ready to keep the momentum going and stay undefeated for as long as possible.”
How has your role on the team changed from last season to this season?
“As an upperclassmen, I have more responsibility to get the freshman comfortable and make them feel apart of the team. I have more of a leadership role, I like it.”
What do you feel your team can improve on moving forward?
“There’s little things we can always improve on, we’re never going to be perfect. We need to keep working at the little things to get to the big picture.”
What do you hope to bring to the team the remainder of the season?
“Hard work and effort. Even when the team is struggling I want them to look at me and see the effort I put on the field. I hope that I can pump them up and motivate them when times are hard.”
