Junior Laura Oldham (Sheffield, England) won both the doubles and singles championships in Arizona’s fall-season opener on Sunday at the Aggie Invitational.
Oldham teamed up with senior Susan Mc Rann (Dublin, Ireland) to win four doubles matches over the weekend and take the doubles title with their victory over Grand Canyon’s Gunuganti and V deVelde.
Oldham also won three singles matches in two days to conquer the singles title, capped off with a win over Grand Canyon’s Priscilla Annoual in three sets.
Mc Rann earned third-place singles honors after defeating NMSU’s Ros-Polly Nguyen in three sets on Sunday.
“This tournament was a good initial test to determine where we are as this fall season kicks off,” Arizona assistant coach Nick Dargene said. “We saw a lot of good things as well as some areas that need improvement. Overall, a great effort from all of our players. I’m very pleased to head back home with our players getting titles in both singles and doubles.”
