TUCSON, Ariz. – Four members of the Arizona men’s tennis team will travel to Tulsa, Okla. for the ITA All-American Championships on Saturday Sept. 28.
Seniors Fredrik Ask, Mario Urquidi and Kieren Thompson will be joined by junior Sumeet Shinde for the tournament. All four will compete in singles, while Ask and Shinde will also team up to compete in doubles.
The tournament marks the fall debut for Ask, who went 8-14 last spring in his first season at Arizona, competing primarily at the Nos. 1 and 2 positions.
Urquidi, Thompson and Shinde began their fall schedule earlier this month, competing in the Napa Valley Invitational. Each of them finished the tournament with singles records of 2-1.
Arizona begins the tournament in the prequalifying round, which runs Sept. 28 and 29. The qualifying round follows from Sept. 30 to Oct. 2, and the main draw runs Oct. 3 to 6.
The ITA All-American Championships, one of college tennis’ most prestigious tournaments, will feature the most elite players from programs across the nation.
