TUCSON, Ariz. Arizona soccer completed practice Wednesday night at Murphey Field at Mulcahy Stadium. The Wildcats travel to California to take on No. 2 Stanford Fri. Oct.4 at 4 p.m. and California on Sun. Oct. 6 at 1 p.m. The match vs. Stanford will be televised on the Pac-12 Networks.

Below are assistant coach Kylie Louw and sophomore Alison Gondosch’s comments following practice:

Assistant coach Kylie Louw:

On playing back to back ranked opponents:

“It’s the same approach we’ve had all season where we go in to each game separately and attack it. We have to go in playing hard and every game we play we want to win.”

On specific focus for this week’s practices:

“We mainly have been working on what we did wrong last weekend so we’re trying to fix some of our mistakes. We need to work on our positioning and making sure our core values and goals are in place for this weekend.”

Sophomore Alison Gondosch:

On overall thoughts of the team so far:

“I think we’re doing a great job and we came off on a great start. Were trying to carry that momentum into conference play since we had a successful non-conference start.”

On what team could improve on:

“We take it game by game because no team we face is the same. When we play a certain team we try to focus on their style of play and adapt ourselves to that. This week we’re mostly working on defending the back line.”

On team mentality going against ranked opponents:

“We try to go in to every game with the same mentality to win. Regardless if it’s UCLA or a Division III team, we want to go in and play our hardest and leave it all on the field.”
