TUCSON, Ariz. – University of Arizona women’s golf sophomore Lindsey Weaver is the Golfweek Player of the Week. In her second tournament as a Wildcat, she won the Windy City Collegiate Classic (Sept. 30-Oct. 1) with a score of 208 (-5).
All three of her rounds at the Windy City were below par (71). The tournament field included the 2013 NCAA Champion USC Trojans and 2013 NCAA Individual Champion Annie Park. Arizona’s squad finished tied for third in the team race.
Weaver won the individual medal with a score of 208 (-5). She carded rounds of 70, 69 and 69 for her best tournament score of her Wildcat career. Weaver’s win, also her highest finish as a Wildcat, is Arizona’s first individual medal since March 2013. Weaver moved from tied for third to first from rounds two to three.
In her first tournament of the 2013 fall season, she rallied from 32nd to 14th on the final day of play at the Dale McNamara Fall Preview. She shot a season-best round of 67 on the final day of play to go with first and second-round scores of 74 and 72 to finish with a 213 (+3). Arizona finished sixth in the team race.
Her season-low round of 67 ranks tied for sixth on Arizona’s all-time list. Her season-low tournament of 208 (-5) is No. 9 on Arizona’s all-time list.Arizona will compete next at the Landfall Tradition, hosted by UNC Wilmington, Oct. 25-27.
