     The University of Arizona's first official track & field All-American placing second in the 1955 NCAA Championships with a long jump of 24-1. Two-time Border Conference titlist, setting league record of 24-10 in 1955 which stood until conference disbanded. Undefeated in 22 consecutive dual meets, becoming first state athlete to jump 25 feet against the University of Southern California in 1954, and improving own school record to 25 3/4 in 1955. Also placed in 1954 NCAA meet, tying for fifth with jump of 24-1 1/2. Third in 1955 National AAU Championships long jump, setting school record in triple jump at 4603. Named as alternate on 1956 United States Olympic Team, finishing fourth in Olympic Trials with a jump of 25-1 1/2, missing qualifying for team by 1 3/4 inches. First Arizona trackman to be named to a U.S. international team, competing in Caribbean in 1956. Three-year letterman in gymnastics, competing in long horse vault and horizontal bars.
