A four- year Letterman in football and track, in 1958 he was named All- Border Conference in both sports, and in 1956 he was track captain. A lineman in football, he played both offense and defense and averaged 58 minutes per game. He was first- team All- Border Conference in 1954, honorable mention All-Border Conference in 1955, second- team All-Border in 1956, and first-team All-Border in 1957. He was a member of Blue Key National Senior Honorary. His tremendous leadership qualities and character on and off the field made him a long-time positive role model at Cholla High School, where he coached football from 1969 until retirement in 1987. The current football stadium at Cholla High School is named Edward H. Brown Stadium in his honor.
