     Consensus All American in 1987, he was selected for the NCAA "Top Six" Award, the organization's highest, and was a finallist for the Jim Thorpe Award. He was twice Academic All America and All Pac-10 Academic. Named Pac-10 Player of the Week following four interceptions against Stanford, he had a 108-yard interception return for a touchdown against Arizona State in 1985 and, at the close of his college career, he was tied for seventh on UA's career interception list. He was defensive MVP in UA's 1986 Aloha Bowl victory over North Carolina. Drafted by the NFL Green Bay Packers, he played in the 1993 Pro Browl and, at the time of his induction, had joined the Phoenix Cardinals.
