Football Cats Collect Weekly Awards

TUCSON, Ariz. Members of the Arizona football team collected weekly honors after Saturday night’s 44-20 win at Colorado. The Wildcats advanced to 5-2 overall and 2-2 in Pac-12 play.

Junior running back Ka’Deem Carey was named College Football Performance Awards Honorable Mention Running Back of the Week. He rushed for 119 yards on 23 carries and four touchdowns in Boulder. On the season, he leads the nation in rushing with 153.3 yards per game, totaling 920 rushing yards and 10 scores.

Senior kicker Jake Smith was named College Football Performance Awards Honorable Mention Specialist of the Week. Smith connected on 3-of-3 field goals attempted and 5-of-5 point after attempts. He hit field goals from 37, 26 and 28 yards to improve his season mark to 8-of-11. He’s Arizona’s No. 2 in points scored on the season with 54.

Freshman linebacker Scooby Wright was named Athlon Sports Pac-12 Freshman of the Week. He has started and played all six of Arizona’s games at SLB. At Colorado, he led the team in tackles with nine, including a half tackle for loss. On the season, he leads the UA squad in tackles with 49, including 27 solo. He’s collected 4.5 tackles for a loss of six yards with one pass break up and a quarterback hurry.

Next on the docket for the Wildcats is a trip to Berkeley on Nov. 2 to take on California for a 12:30 p.m. MST kickoff. The game will be televised by Pac-12 Networks with Glenn Parker, Ted Robinson and Drea Avent on the broadcast crew. The game will also air on Arizona IMG Sports Network, KCUB 1290 AM in Tucson and Fox Sports 910 AM in Phoenix.

Fans can also make appointments via the McKale Center Ticket Office to tour the seating areas during normal business hours.
