As Arizona's #1 tennis player for four years, Rand Evett led the Wildcats to three straight Western Athletic Conference team championships and three top-10 finished nationally. At the time of his induction, Rand was one of only two players in WAC history to win two singles and two doubles championships the other is Arizona Sports Hall of Fame Member Bill Lenior. Rand became the first freshman to win the Western Athletic singles title and his victory in 1973 gave Arizona its first conference championship of the 1970's. Rand was an NCAA All- American in 1973 and 1974, reaching the NCAA doubles quarterfinal in 1973 and the NCAA doubles semifinals in 1974. Rand went in to compete professionally on the ATP tour for ten years. His highest world ranking in singles was #180 and his doubles team was ranked #80 in the world. Rand played in all four Grand Slam tennis tournaments and his best result was reaching the round of 16 in the 1983 US Open.
