TUCSON, Ariz. – After taking a week off from competition, the Arizona swimming and diving team returns to action on Homecoming weekend to face UCLA and USC at the Hillenbrand Aquatic Center.
The women's team will host UCLA on Friday at 2 p.m. while both teams will take on USC on Saturday at 1 p.m.
The Wildcats had plenty of success in their home opener back on Oct. 25 as both teams picked up victories over UNLV. The women topped the Rebels by a score of 183-109, while the men came out on top with a score of 208-91.
UCLA heads into the weekend with a perfect 4-0 record after most recently winning a tri-meet against Oregon State, UC Santa Barbara and Florida Gulf Coast last weekend. The Bruins opened the season by defeating San Diego.
The Bruins defeated the Wildcats last year at Spieker Aquatics Center, 157-141. The meet came down to the final event as a win in the 200 Free Relay gave the Bruins the victory over the Wildcats.
Meanwhile, the USC men’s squad will open its season on Saturday. The Trojans are coming off a fourth place finish at last season’s NCAA Championship, just a spot behind the Wildcats. USC defeated Arizona in dual competition last season by a score of 181.5-109.5.
On the women’s side, USC enters the weekend as the No. 1 team in the country. The Trojans are coming off a victory at the six-team SMU Classic, where they defeated Indiana, Louisville, North Carolina, SMU and Miami. In addition, USC has also defeated Washington State this year. Last season, USC defeated Arizona in Los Angeles, 155-134.
