TUCSON, Ariz. – University of Arizona football specialists Drew Riggleman and Jake Smith earned College Football Performance Award honors. The Wildcats return to action Sat., Nov. 16, against Washington State at 12 p.m. at Arizona Stadium.
Sophomore punter Riggleman has been named National Punter of the Week. Against UCLA, he punted five times for a total of 259 yards while averaging 51.8 yards per kick. His mark of 51.8 yards per punt is his best single-game average of the season. He kicked a season- and career-long punt of 58 yards while downing two kicks inside the 20-yard line.
On the season, Riggleman has kicked 43 punts for a total of 1,726 yards with an average of 40.1 yards per kick. He’s downed 15 punts inside the 20-yard line and had nine kicks of 50 yards or better.
Senior place kicker Smith has been named Honorable Mention Specialist of the Week. Against UCLA, he connected on both of his PATs while hitting field goals from 44 yards and 27 yards. He also handled six kickoffs for 390 yards with an average of 65.0 yards per kick.
On the season, Smith leads the Cats in points scored with 69 from 36-of-38 PAT and 11-of-15 field goals. He ranks fifth among Pac-12 kickers in points scored. He hit a career-long field goal of 53 yards at California. On kickoffs, he’s hit 61 for 3,746 yards with an average of 61.4 yards per kick.
The Wildcats return to action Sat., Nov. 16, against Washington State at 12 p.m. at Arizona Stadium. The game will air on Pac-12 Networks. The game will also air on Arizona IMG Sports Network, KCUB 1290 AM in Tucson and Fox Sports 910 AM in Phoenix.
