TUCSON, Ariz. – University of Arizona women’s soccer goalkeeper Gabby Kaufman is the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season, it was announced by the conference on Tuesday.
In Arizona’s season finale against Arizona State, Kaufman recorded eight saves to shutout the Sun Devils, 2-0. The win against ASU was Kaufman’s sixth shutout of the season including matches vs. Florida Atlantic, UC Riverside, No. 24 Ohio State, Oregon State and Colorado.
In a notable 3-0 victory over Colorado, Kaufman propelled the Wildcat defense recording a season-high of 10 saves out of the 12 shots she faced. Kaufman finished the season leading the Pac-12 in saves with 105 and a save percentage of .820 and averaging 5.25 saves per game.
Under new head coach Tony Amato, Arizona finished the 2013 season 9-7-4, earning the first winning record the program has seen since 2005. The Cats also earned a point for the Territorial Cup Series with last week’s win against the Sun Devils.
