TUCSON, Ariz. – Arizona soccer senior forward Jazmin Ponce and freshman midfielder Jaden DeGracie collected various Pac-12 honors as the regular season ended this weekend.
Ponce was named 2013 Pac-12 First-Team All-Conference, her second nod in as many seasons, as well as Pac-12 Second-Team by College Sports Madness. DeGracie earned Pac-12 Second-Team honors by College Sports Madness.
On the season, Ponce recorded a total of 92 shot attempts, five assists, five game-winning goals and 10 goals. Ponce led the Pac-12 in shots and game-winning goals for three weeks in a row.
“I couldn’t be any happier,” Ponce said. “I thank all my teammates and coaches but especially my family who has always believed in me.”
DeGracie was also recognized by College Sports Madness and was named to the Pac-12 Second Team. A native of Gilbert, Ariz., she finished her first collegiate season with eight assists, one goal and 19 shots. DeGracie's eight assists came from her stand-out flip throw-in that the Wildcats used in their offensive scheme. She's the only current women's Pac-12 player to incorporate a flip throw-in.
"I am very excited to win this award," DeGracie said. "I am so grateful to have amazing teammates and coaches and I am honored to represent the University of Arizona."
