TUCSON, Ariz. Each week, Arizona football head coach Rich Rodriguez and his staff select Player of the Week honorees based on performance leading up to and including the game each week. The Wildcats fell to Washington State, 24-17, on Saturday. UA sits at 6-4 overall and 3-4 in Pac-12 Conference play.

Offense: Ka’Deem Carey, Junior, Running Back

Against the Cougars, junior running back Ka’Deem Carey rushed for 100 yards for the 13th-straight game. He finished the WSU game with 132 yards on 26 carries. Carey scored twice, including once on the ground and once receiving. He now has 45 career touchdowns, three shy of tying Art Luppino’s school record of 48. The 30-yard touchdown run by Carey in the first quarter was his team-leading 12th rushing score of the year. He has 41 career rushing touchdowns.

Carey now has 1,353 rushing yards on 242 attempts this season. That total is fourth-most in school single-season history. Carey’s career rushing tally improved to 3,707 yards. He is 117 yards away from matching Trung Canidate’s school career rushing record of 3,824 yards. Carey’s 177 all-purpose yards (45 receiving, 132 rushing) push his season total to 1,531. He has 4,956 career all-purpose yards, which is now fourth-most in program history.

Defense: Derrick Turituri, Freshman, Linebacker

Seeing increasing playing time as the weeks progress, freshman linebacker Derrick Turituri has also been relied upon as an efficient pass rusher in third-down situations. Against the Cougars, he contributed with three solo tackles, including a sack for a loss of five yards. His QB stop was one of four sacks Arizona had against WSU and was one of seven tackles for a loss of 26 yards.

On the season, Turituri totals 10 tackles in 10 games played. He ranks second among freshman and fourth among linebackers with six solo stops and four assisted tackles. He has 2.5 sacks for a loss of 18 yards. He’s also a contributor on special teams in addition to his defensive unit responsibilities.

Sophomore running back Jared Baker was named Student of the Week. From the scout team, sophomore receiver DaVonte’ Neal on offense, freshman safety RJ Morgan on defense and freshman safety David Price on special teams were honored for their efforts during the Washington State game preparations.

The Wildcats play their final home game of 2013 on Sat., Nov. 23, as they host Oregon. The game time and TV selection will be announced no later than Mon., Nov. 18. The game will also air on Arizona IMG Sports Network, KCUB 1290 AM in Tucson and Fox Sports 910 AM in Phoenix.
