Arizona women’s basketball rallied from a 15-point deficit in the second half, but fell to UAB, 63-53 in Birmingham, Ala. on Thursday night.

“We made a surge late, but made mistakes in the last minutes,” Arizona head coach Niya Butts said. “We started to make some plays defensively, giving them a tough time, but we didn’t always capitalize offensively.as a team.”

Senior Erica Barnes led the Wildcats with 11 points and seven rebounds.

Seniors Kama Griffitts and Carissa Crutchfield scored nine and eight points, while freshman LaBrittney Jones grabbed seven rebounds.

Seven players scored at least six points for Arizona.

Chelsee Black and Karisma Chapman led the Blazers with 15 and 12 points, respectively.

The Wildcats will return home to take on Texas Tech on Sunday, Dec. 15 at noon. The game will be televised live on the Pac-12 Networks.
