Patrick Nduwimana was one of the most prolific runners in Arizona history. He won the 2000 NCAA 800-meter Outdoor Championship and the 2001 NCAA 800-meter Indoor Championship in record setting fashion. His time at the 2000 NCAA Championships was also the fastest run on U.S. soil that year. Patrick was a Pac-10 Champion in the 800 meters in both 1999 & 2000 and a two time first team All-America. Patrick competed for his native country of Burundi in the 2000 & 2004 Summer Olympics and made it into the semifinals both times. Patrick finished with the number 10 time in the world in 2000, the top finish for any returning collegiate athlete. Track and Field News ranked him as the world’s No. 10 800 meter runner in 2000. At the time of induction, Patrick was listed as #14 in All Time Best Top 30 List- Male 800 meters and he was still competing on the professional level internationally.
