A top three finisher in the 500yd and 1650yd freestyle at the NCAA Championships all four years of his Arizona career. He set and re-set school records in both events, was the NCAA champion in the 1650yd freestyle his freshman year, held the school record in the 200yd freestyle until 1994, and was a nine-time All-American and seven-time All-American honorable mention. As a member of the Polish Olympic team in 1988, he finished fifth in the 400m and 1500m freestyle, set the Olympic record in the 400m during prelims, and was named Polish Student-Athlete of the Year. He was also a member of the Polish Olympic team in 1992. He coached at Arizona from 1993-95, and at the time of his induction, he was the head coach of the Oregon State swim team.
