Game Storylines
» Back at No. 1 for the first time since 2003, Arizona will look to run its record to 10-0 on the season when it caps a three-game homestand against a talented New Mexico State squad on Wednesday.

» UA has now been the AP No. 1 for a total of 30 weeks, the 10th-most in NCAA history and second-most in Pac-12 history; Arizona is the first Pac-12 team to ascend to the top spot in the AP poll since January 6, 2006.

» Now in his fifth season in Tucson, Sean Miller continues to honor a process that has seen him lead UA to a Pac-12-best 89-28 (.761) record since the start of the 2010-11 campaign.

» UA is 33-4 (.892) under Miller in non-conference home games; the Wildcats are 62-11 (.849) overall at McKale Center during Miller’s tenure.

» Heading into the week, Arizona is ranked ninth nationally in both field goal percentage defense and scoring defense; opponents are shooting just .368 and scoring 59.1 points per game against UA with no opponent scoring more than 66 points in a game this season.

» Long and athletic on the perimeter, UA has hassled opposing shooters into a 27.8 percent mark from three-point range this season, including a total of 22-of-91 (.242) in its last six games.

» Arizona’s post defense has been stellar in the early going, limiting opponents to 40.5 percent shooting inside the arc and averaging 5.6 blocks per game; last season’s UA team averaged only 3.8 blocks per contest.

» Point guard T.J. McConnell has orchestrated an offensive attack that is operating at 50.0 percent from the floor, while averaging 25.0 free throw attempts per game; McConnell ranks ninth nationally in assists (6.8/game) and ranks second in the Pac-12 with a 3.4 assist-to-turnover ratio.

» Sean Miller’s biggest Arizona team has been lethal in the paint, more than doubling its opponents’ output in the same area; UA is +15.0 points per game in the paint on average and shooting 55.6 percent from inside the arc this season.

» Arizona has won the rebounding battle in each of its nine games this season and ranks second nationally with a +14.1 rebound margin; UA has six players averaging at least 4.0 rebounds per game with frontcourt starters Brandon Ashley, Aaron Gordon and Kaleb Tarczewski each accounting for at least 6.7 per contest.

» The Wildcats have been stellar from the arc in six games at McKale Center this season, shooting .416 (42-of-101) in those contests.
