1997 NCAA Championship Women's 200 Freestyle
The University of Arizona women's swimming teams were dominant in the late 1990's in relays. Shannon Hosack, Liesl Kolbisen, Denali Knapp and Ashley Tappin defended the UA's NCAA title of the 200 freestyle relay in 1997. Their time of 1:29:56 was better than the record setting performance of the 1996 relay by almost a second and their win helped the women's team to a fourth place finish overall in the NCAA's. These same four ladies also dominated the regular season in the 200 free relay and took home the PAC-10 title a month earlier.
