At the time of her induction, Tara Chaplin was only the second woman in University of Arizona history to win the NCAA Cross Country Championship. Hall of Fame member Amy Skieresz is the other. Tara won the title in 2001 while also leading her Wildcat teammates to a fourth place finish. She also won the Honda Sports Award for cross country in 2001. Coaches in the Western Region chose Tara for their Athlete of the Year and the Pac-10 Conference recognized her by naming Tara the conference Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Year for 2001. The same year she won the NCAA Championship she also won the NCAA Western Regional cross country title.
