Winner of three NCAA individual titles in 1989 and a 10-time All-American in the shot put and discus events. In 1989 she won NCAA titles in the indoor shot put and outdoor shot and discus, becoming the first woman since 1982 to win both events. First UofA woman to win a Pac-10 individual title, setting a meet and all-time conference record with a discus throw of 19805, she also won the shot put in 1989. Also won the conference titles in Pacific West Conference in the discus in 1986 and the Western Collegiate Athletic Association in the shot put in 1985. As a freshman in 1985, set U.S. junior record of 55-7 3/4 in shot put while placing second in NCAA Championships. Qualified for U.S. Olympic Trials in 1988, placing fifth in discus, and competed as a member of the us. national team in the 1989 World University Games and in 1991 and 1993 at the World Track and Field Championships. She also competed in the U.S. Olympic Trials in 1992 and 1996. Has been ranked in the top 10 in the U.S. discus every year since 1987, and was top 10 ranked in the shot put from 1985-1989.
