Kristi Gunning distinguished herself as one of the finest gymnasts in the history of the University of Arizona. Kristi was a four time All-Pac-10 conference gymnast, a two time All-American, and 1993 Pac-10 Conference Champion on the vault. Kristi was also a finalist of Pac-10 Gymnast of the Year which honors the top gymnast in the country based on their entire collegiate career. Kristi was also known for her exceptional athletic ability - many times competing while hurt. In her final meet for the UA, she competed with a broken wrist participating in every event. She hit every routine during that meet and was the highest scoring gymnast for the team. Kristi completed her degree in four years and excelled academically. She was named to the 1st team Academic All-Pac-10 team and was also named an Academic All-American. When Kristi left the university in 1994, she was the only gymnast to reside in the UofA record books in all five events. At the time of her induction, Kristi was listed in the record books in four events.
