Set world record in the 2-mile at the 1982 TAC Indoor national Championships. Was three-time All-American in cross country, two-time All-American in track and All-American in indoor track once. Set UofA records in the 1,500, 3,000, and 5,000 meter and one-mile runs, reached second on all-time list in the 800 meters and was a member of the record holding 4x800 meter relay team. Won two Western Collegiate Athletic Association individual cross country titles. Was WCAA 3,000 meter champion in 1980 and member of the United States Olympic team. Finished eighth in 1984 Olympic 3,000 meter final in Los Angeles. Golden Eagle and Golden "A" Award winner.
