Earning All-American honors in more than a dozen individual or relay events, she helped the Wildcats finish in the nation's top ten in 1980 and 1981. During her collegiate years, she held school records in the 50, 100 and 200 yard freestyle events and ranked among Arizona's top five in the 500 yard freestyle. She captured all-conference honors from both the Intermountain Athletic Conference, 1978-79, and the Western Collegiate Athletic Association, 1980-81. She was a recipient of the Golden "A" Award in 1980. twice a Golden Eagle Scholar-Athlete, she earned Dean's list honors seven of eight semesters and graduated Phi Beta kappa. In 1981, she competed in the World Deag Games and captured six gold medals and one silver, while setting six world records for the deaf in the 100, 200, 400 and 800 meter freestyle events and 400 meter free relay and 400 meter medley relay.
