2002 800 Freestyle Relay Team NCAA Champions
The University of Arizona is known throughout the world of intercollegiate swimming to dominate relays. Jessica Hayes, Emily Mason, Jenny Vanker and Sarah Tolar did just that in the 800-yard freestyle relay at the 2002 NCAA Championships. Three weeks after three of those four women captured the Pac-10 Championship in that event, this quartet set a school record and lowered their time by more than five seconds to win the national title with a time of 7:05:10. Their performance helped the Wildcats to a fifth place finish in the NCAA Championships.
