TUCSON, Ariz. – The men’s tennis team continues its season on Sunday as they head to Las Cruces, N.M. to play New Mexico State at 12 p.m.
“They’re a talented team,” head coach Tad Berkowitz said. “They’ve got some good players and it’s always more challenging playing on the road.”
Arizona is coming off a weekend in which it went 1-1, defeating Idaho and falling to Nevada to bring their season record to 8-6.
Mario Urquidi and Matt Dunn won both of their singles matches on the weekend, with Dunn’s wins coming in his dual season debut for singles.
“I like where our heads are at right now,” said Berkowitz. “Last week we had a tough loss but I like their mindset in practices this week.”
Following the match, Arizona will have a two-week break until returning home vs. Louisville on Monday, Mar. 10.
On New Mexico State
The Aggies, led by head coach Carlos Vargas, sit at 6-3 on the year, coming off of wins against Idaho and Kansas City. Sophomore Strahinja Trecakov is the reigning WAC athlete of the week competing at the No. 1 spot for New Mexico State. Last year, the Aggies went 14-9, falling to Denver in the WAC Championships.
