Hello Wildcat fans!
If you missed the action this past weekend that’s too bad because we competed in our LAST games of the season. I can’t believe the first ever sand volleyball season (and Monday’s With Madi) is over…it feels like it just started! What’s even more bizarre is being done with volleyball for the year. It has been go, go, go for me since the beginning of August with the start of indoor volleyball and then the transition to sand. I’m used to being busy with something volleyball related and today I have an unusual amount of free time. It’s a weird feeling.
Anyway, back to the volleyball!
Saturday we started off the morning against No. 1-ranked USC, which unfortunately did not end up going in our favor. The second match was against Boise State. We bounced back from the rough morning to sweep Boise in the afternoon. There was some pretty intense wind on Saturday along with some rain but that didn’t stop the sand cats from competing their tails off. I am so happy that we were able to end the season with a win! What a great feeling! This season was filled with ups and downs (mostly ups!) but I am so honored to say that I was a part of the University of Arizona’s first ever sand volleyball team. For this being the first year of the program I just want to express how proud I am of all of my teammates. Each and every one of them grew tremendously as sand players this season and I wouldn’t want to be out on the courts each and every day with anyone else. Even though our season is relatively short, I feel like I have learned so much that will transfer over to my indoor game that will be helpful in the long run.
I am definitely already missing volleyball in general (and how tan I was getting from sand volleyball). I look forward to getting back on the indoor and sand courts next year for my SENIOR season. It’s crazy how time flies; it feels like I just finished my freshman year. The upcoming season will be here before you know it and Monday’s With Madi will most definitely be back!
I want to give a HUGE thank you to everyone who came out and supported us this season! We are so appreciative to have our fans, friends, and family come watch us play. It wouldn’t be the same without you guys!
Also…shout out to teammate Emily Kiser, happy birthday!!!
Until next season…BEARDOWN!!
