TUCSON, Ariz. – University of Arizona sand volleyball has added local standout Taylor Lane to its roster for the 2015 season, head coach Steve Walker announced on Friday. Lane, a former star at Amphi High School, will join the Wildcats from Point Loma Nazarene University and will have two years of eligibility remaining.

“It’s such a thrill to add a Tucson native to the program,” Walker said. “Taylor is a very explosive athlete who also has an innate feel for virtually all aspects of the game. She was a standout locally at the high school level on and off the hardwood and I look for her to be an impact player for us, especially as a defensive player who can transition and score points.”

Lane is a 5-9 hitter/defensive specialist that led Point Loma to the NCCAA National Championship in 2013. PLN finished with a 30-7 record on its way to winning the national title. Lane recorded 103 assists, 61 digs, 21 kills and 12 service aces in 2013. She combined for 108 digs and 43 kills in 2012. She was named to the PacWest All-Academic Team in 2012 and 2013 and was a NCCAA Scholar-Athlete selection in 2013.

A graduate of Amphitheater High School in Tucson, Lane played four seasons as a Panther, earning four letters for Coach Tim Nordenssen. She was a three-time Gila Region first-team selection and a second-team Gila Region selection as a freshman. She recorded 543 kills, 108 aces, 27 blocks and 207 digs in her best season. Her other honors included being named Fox 11 Sports Force High School Game Time Player of the Week (November 2008), 2010 MVP Cactus Shadows Volleyball Tournament and 2009 Junior Olympic American Division All-American. Her best individual match was against Canyon del Oro when she had 33 kills, 12 digs and three aces. The National Honor Society member was an U.S. Army Reserve National Scholar-Athlete Award earner and an Arizona Academic Scholar.
