TUCSON, Ariz. - Senior Erik Oja of Arizona men’s golf was named to the 2014 Capital One Academic All-District At-Large Men’s Division I team for his scholar-athlete achievements, announced the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Thursday.
First-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the Capital One Academic All-America Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honors will be announced the first week of June.
From the eight districts, Oja was one of 12 athletes in District 8 to make the Division I team. He was also one of seven Pac-12 athletes to be recognized and just one of four golfers to make the team.
Academically, Oja holds a 3.91 GPA in Business Management.
Oja is currently one of two Wildcats in the race to nationals at the San Antonio Regional, which runs from Thurs. May 15 through Sat., May 17 at Briggs Ranch Golf Club.
This season, the Sandviken, Sweden native was selected as one of ten golfers to make the Palmer Cup European Team. He is just the fourth Wildcat to make the team. He leads the team with a season average of 71.29 with 21 rounds at par or better.
In his career with Arizona, Oja competed in 54 tournaments with a career average of 72.35. He has placed in the top-10 17 times and has 32 top-20 finishes.
