TUCSON, Ariz. – Arizona Athletics and Bon Voyage Travel have teamed up again to offer the Cat Cruiser transportation program for the 2014 football home games. New for this season, two different routes will be offered from the Phoenix area to Tucson, giving fans an easy and affordable transportation option.
"Having two routes for our Cat Cruiser for the 2014 football season is an excellent opportunity for our Phoenix-area fans to attend our home games in Tucson," Director of Athletics Greg Byrne said. "Adding a second route will be convenient for our fans and enhances accessibility while keeping costs affordable. The Cat Cruiser is an important part of our football gameday atmosphere and we encourage as many fans as possible to take advantage of an affordable ride to-and-from our games."
The Cat Cruiser arrives on campus at the Coca-Cola Fan Fiesta approx. two hours prior to kickoff and then departs 30 minutes after the game. The new low price is $20 per person, round trip, for 2014. Two bus routes are being offered, each with two convenient pick-up locations.
Route 1 will leave Applebee’s at 2 East Camelback Road (& Central) in Phoenix four and half hours before kickoff. It will continue to Sandbar Mexican Grill at 7200 W. Ray Rd. (& I-10) in Chandler and will depart four hours before kickoff.
Route 2 will leave Blue 32 at 7000 E. Mayo, Suite 1072, in N. Scottsdale four and half hours before kickoff. It will continue to Blue Moose at 7373 E. Scottsdale Mall in Scottsdale and will depart four hours before kickoff.
“For people in Phoenix, the Cat Cruiser is very convenient and you get to let somebody else do the driving and parking,” Cat Cruiser rider, season ticket holder and UA alum Jim Patterson said. “You arrive in Tucson two hours before kickoff with enough time to see the Wildcat Walk. After the game, it’s a short walk to pick up the bus back to Phoenix. Again, you get to let somebody else drive back at night.”
