By: Arizona Athletics
Release: February 03, 2016

TUCSON, Ariz. – University of Arizona head football coach Rich Rodriguez announced the 2016 National Letter of Intent Class Wednesday at the Lowell-Stevens Football Facility. The group of 22 players announced includes nine offensive players and 13 on the defensive side.

“I think we filled a lot of needs and wants with this class,” said Rodriguez. “I believe these are great additions and we are very excited to officially welcome them into our program.”

On Wednesday, the Wildcats received National Letters of Intent from 15 players. Offensively, linemen Michael Eletise and Bryson Cain were joined by running back J.J. Taylor and receivers Devaughn Cooper and Shawn Poindexter.

Arizona’s defensive deep received a boost with 10 total signees. Among them were linemen Josh Allen and Justin Holt, linebackers Jalen Cochran, Jacob Colacion and Francisco Nelson, and defensive backs Tristan Cooper, Chacho Ulloa, Gavin Robertson, Jarrius Wallace and Lorenzo Burns.

Counting against the total class scholarship count are four greyshirts who are already enrolled in classes and participating in official team functions as of January. Included are tight end Jamie Nunley, cornerback Antonio Parks and offensive linemen Harper Sherman and Keenan Walker.

Additionally, the Wildcats have welcomed three mid-year enrollees, including safety Isaiah Hayes, linebacker Kahi Neves and quarterback Khalil Tate. Each student-athlete completed high school course work in December and enrolled in January classes at UA.

Arizona is coming off four-consecutive bowl appearances for the first time in program history. Spring football practices will begin Feb. 12 and conclude March 25. An open practice for letterwinners and the general public will be held at Arizona Stadium a 6 p.m. on March 4.
