TUCSON, Ariz. – Arizona women’s golf is off to a strong start at the Windy City Collegiate Classic. Playing two rounds on Monday, the tournament is being hosted by Northwestern at Northmoor Country Club (par 71, 6,108 yards) in Highland Park, Ill. The final round of play will tee at 7:30 a.m. CT on Tuesday.
USC leads the team race with a score of 562 (-6). Oklahoma State sits in second place with a 563 (-5). Arizona rounds out the top three with a score of 564 (-4). The Cats carded individual rounds of 285 and 279. Trojan Kyung Kim leads the individual race with a 137 (-5).
UA saw its four scoring players finish in the top 14. Sophomore Lindsey Weaver was Arizona’s top finisher on Monday, sitting in a tie for third after two rounds. She fired scores of 70 and 69 to total a 139 (-3). Junior Kendall Prince sits in a two-way tie for fifth place. She shot a 69 and a 71 for a score of 140 (-2).
Junior Andrea Vilarasau moved from tied for 25th to tied for eighth from rounds one to two. She collected scores of 73 and 69 for a total of 142 (E). Freshman Jessica Vasilic sits in a six-way tie for 14th. Her score of 143 (+1) came from rounds of 73 and 70. Junior Manon Gidali rounded out the Arizona five in a two-way tie for 57th place. She scored a 153 (+11) with rounds of 78 and 75.Day two at the Windy City Collegiate Classic will begin at 7:30 a.m. CT on Tuesday.
