TUCSON, Ariz. – Five members of the University of Arizona women’s golf team earned Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholar awards. The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team is a minimum cumulative GPA is 3.50. The Wildcats who earned recognition are Kendall Prince, Lindsey Weaver, Jessica Vasilic, Andrea Vilarasau and Wanasa Zhou.
Prince, a senior in 2014-15, was also named Pac-12 Second-Team All-Academic. She holds a cumulative GPA of 3.57 while majoring in marketing. In 2013, she posted a stroke average of 74.58 while competing in 11 tournaments. She earned one top-10 finish and one top-20 finish with a season-low round of 69.
Weaver, a junior in 2014-15, holds a cumulative GPA of 3.516 as a pre-business major. She earned Arizona’s 54th All-America citation in 2013-14 and its fourth in the last five seasons. She was a first-team All-Pac-12 honoree in her first season with the Wildcats. She earned a runner-up finish at the 2014 Pac-12 Championships, a top-20 finish at the NCAA Championships and was Arizona’s top finisher in five tournaments. She posted a stroke average of 72.32 with six top-10 finishes and eight top-20 finishes.
Vasilic, a sophomore in 2014-15, holds a cumulative GPA of 3.897 as a pre-business major. She competed in nine events and 27 rounds and earned one top-10 finish and one top-20 finish. Vasilic finished in a tie for second at the SunTrust Gator Invitational by carding a 215 (+5). She ended the year third on the team in rounds at or under par (six) and tied for second on the team in the lowest round (69).
Vilarasau, a senior in 2014-15, was named Pac-12 All-Academic Honorable Mention. She holds a cumulative GPA of 3.41 as an industrial engineering major. She competed in nine events in 2013 and posted a stroke average of 75.33. Vilarasau finished in the top 10 twice and the top 20 twice.
Zhou, a sophomore in 2014-15, holds a cumulative GPA of 4.00 as a pre-business major. She competed in nine events and 28 rounds while earning two top-10 finishes and three top-20 finishes. Zhou was third on the team in average strokes per round (74.42) and led the team in top-20 finishes (three).
