TUCSON - University of Arizona football continued its spring practice season with a workout on Fri., March 22, at Kindall Field/Sancet Stadium. In head coach Rich Rodriguez's second spring with the Wildcats, the squad dressed in full pads for the third time for a two-hour practice on Friday. Below is a brief transcript of player remarks following practice.
Junior linebacker Hank Hobson
On the progress of spring practice:
"It's good to have another year under your belt in the system. We have a better feel for it and things are starting to flow better. And because of that, we play better."
On the depth of the linebacker group:
"Coach Casteel is a great coach. He's a defensive genius. We have a lot more depth now than we've had the past couple of seasons. Jake Fischer is definitely our leader. Dakota Conwell had a really good freshman year. We're really starting to come together as a group and figure it out. But we still have a long way to go."
Senior cornerback Richard Morrison
On the move to defense:
"It's a little bit harder than offense but once you get it, you get it. It's like playing quarterback to me. You have to watch everything on the field. I think being a quarterback my whole life and playing wide receiver here, it's helped me transition to defense. It's like second nature now."
Sophomore safety Will Parks
On Saturday's scrimmage:
"We're working on keeping the main thing the main thing. The scrimmage tomorrow is going to be a good test of how we're progressing this spring and will prepare for the rest of our practices. We want to get better day by day."
On his first spring in the system:
"Coach Rodriguez is a great coach. He stays hard on us and makes sure we're never slacking. Every day, he wants us to improve mentally and physically and he's giving us the tools to do that."
