TUCSON, Ariz. – Seven members of the University of Arizona football team earned spots on Phil Steele’s 2014 Preseason All-Pac-12 Team, it was released on Friday. The Wildcats open the 2014 season on Fri., Aug. 29 with a match-up against UNLV at 7:30 p.m. on ESPN.
Redshirt senior receiver Austin Hill, sophomore linebacker Scooby Wright and redshirt senior safety Jared Tevis earned second-team honors at their respective positions.
Hill returns for 2014 after missing the 2013 season with a knee injury. In 2012, he was a Biletnikoff Award Semifinalist, All-Pac-12 Second-Team and Phil Steele Fourth-Team All-America. He ranked No. 2 in the Pac-12 in total receiving yards (1,364) and yards per game (104.9).
Wright started 12 games at sam linebacker in 2013 and went on to earn Freshman All-America honors from 247sports.com, second-team Freshman All-America accolades by Athlon Sports and was named All-Pac-12 Honorable Mention. Tevis has 22 career starts with 177 career tackles and was twice named All-Pac-12 Honorable Mention.
Redshirt senior offensive lineman Mickey Baucus, senior safety Tra’Mayne Bondurant and redshirt junior Johnny Jackson (punt return) earned third-team accolades at their respective positions.
Baucus has 38-straight career starts at left tackle. Bondurant recorded four interceptions for 79 returns yards and two touchdowns in 2013. Last season, Jackson returned 11 punts for 113 yards with a long of 25 yards.
Redshirt senior offensive lineman Fabbians Ebbele was named to the fourth team. He started 12 games at right tackle in 2013 and holds 37 career starts.
