TUCSON, Ariz. – University of Arizona football will play San Diego State in a future home-and-home series, it was announced by both programs on Tuesday.
The two teams will meet in Tucson at Arizona Stadium in 2021 with a game in San Diego at Qualcomm Stadium in 2022. The Wildcats lead the series with the Aztecs, 10-5. The last meeting between the two teams came in 2001 with Arizona defeating San Diego State, 23-10, in San Diego. The last contest played in Tucson was a 17-3 victory for UA in 2000.
Arizona has posted back-to-back 8-5 campaigns and postseason victories in the Gildan New Mexico Bowl and the AdvoCare V100 Bowls in 2012 and 2013, respectively. In Rich Rodriguez’s third season at the helm of the program, the Wildcats return 42 letterwinners from 2013 and are led by a class of 16 seniors in 2014.
