Quintero Punches Ticket to NCAAs at Diving Zones

TUCSON, Ariz. – Arizona sophomore Rafael Quintero punched his second straight trip to the NCAA Championships after a second-place finish in the 1-meter diving competition on day two of the Zone E Diving Championship at the Air Force Academy’s Cadet Natatorium.

Quintero finished with 776.35 points finishing behind Kristian Ipsen of Stanford, who finished with a winning score of 855.10. Quintero will have a chance to earn valuable points for the Wildcats at the NCAA Championships.

The Wildcats also had two other members of the men’s team advance to the finals as Dominic Ricotta finished 12th and Carter Craft placed 15th.

Meanwhile, the women’s team had two compete in the finals of the 3-meter competition. Freshman Michal Bower earned a seventh-place finish with 614.90 points, while Sally Hackett finished 18th with 540.40 points.

The Wildcats will have another opportunity at advancing members of the team to the NCAA Championships with the platform competition beginning tomorrow.
