TUCSON– Eight Arizona players were named NFCA all-West-region, including four first-team selections, announced the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) on Thursday.

Arizona racked up the most players between all three teams for the West Region. Hallie Wilson, Mo Mercado, Kellie Fox and Katiyana Mauga each made the First Team. Estela Pinon, Chelsea Goodacre and Kelsey Rodriguez made the Second Team. Courtney Rodriguez was the lone Wildcat and one of seven Pac-12 players to make the Third Team.

The eight players on the all-region team are the most in Arizona history, and the four first-teamers are the most since 2011.

First-Team All-Pac-12 member Wilson leads the league in runs scored with 66, while ranking in the top-10 of the conference in batting average, slugging percentage, on-base percentage, home runs, total bases and walks.

Mercado was named to the Pac-12 All-Freshman Team, while earning all-conference honorable mention honors. Mercado currently owns a .340 batting average to go with 10 home runs and 48 RBI. She has started all 54 games at second base for the Wildcats.

Fox was recently named the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year. She has 108 assists and 78 putouts on the year at shortstop with a fielding percentage of .949. At the plate, Fox holds a .401 batting average, a .771 slugging percentage and a .505 on-base percentage with 63 hits on the year, which are tied for the most on the team. Her 59 runs batted in are second-most on the Wildcat roster and tied for second most in the Pac-12.

The 2014 Pac-12 Freshman of the Year, Mauga, worked her way into the starting lineup just three games into the season and became a consistent starter six games into the year. She is hitting a .382 clip on the year with 19 home runs, 12 doubles and 56 RBI. Her slugging percentage of .924 leads the Pac-12 and is fourth-best in the nation.

On the Second Team, Piñon led the Arizona pitching staff in nearly every category including wins (17), ERA (2.54), appearances (33), starts (21), complete games (8), innings pitched (143.1) and strikeouts (124). Goodacre, who also received First-Team All-Pac-12 honors, leads the Pac-12 with 22 home runs, 70 RBIs and 128 total bases. Kelsey Rodriguez paced the Wildcats with a .424 average, while leading the Pac-12 with 18 doubles.

To round out the Wildcats on West Region teams, Courtney Rodriguez currently holds a .341 batting average with 44 hits, 11 doubles and 23 RBI.
